Pharmacology, simply defined as the science of drugs, is the branch of science that investigates all stages of the drug. Pharmacology focuses on the drug's adventure with its entry into the body until it is excreted from the body. Pharmacology is working on the receptors that drugs bind to, their effects, degradation, and excretion in the body. Pharmacology investigates the sources, activities, mechanisms of action, benefits, indications, side effects of drugs and all active pharmaceutical ingredients. The Department of Pharmacology takes part in the education of students from the 2nd year and plays an important role in providing professional qualifications to our students. Pharmacology offers a detailed education with 2 lectures: firstly pharmacokinetics, which deals with the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs, and secondly pharmacotherapy, which investigates the treatment of drugs. In addition, pharmacology is a multidisciplinary course that deals with toxicity, genetics, and adverse effects of drugs with toxicology, pharmacovigilance, pharmacogenetics, and pharmacoeconomics lectures.

As Istanbul Kent University Department of Pharmacology, we have faculty members who have taken part in many research projects in their field and contribute to the national and international publications in mostly Q1 journals and book chapters. In addition, our master's and PhD students continue their thesis studies by taking part in our research projects. We are also developing novel nano-sized drug delivery systems for the treatment of diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, colitis, inflammation, and wounds. We also detail our studies with in vivo animal and in vitro cell culture tests as well as biochemical analyses. We have many international SCI-indexed publications, book chapters, posters, and national and international training courses in these fields. Currently, we are actively collaborating with universities in Portugal, Pakistan, Romania, India, United States of America, and United Kingdom.

Many TUSEB, TÜBİTAK, national, and international projects are carried out by our department and these projects will be executed together with our students.
