The Urban Studies Application and Research Center (KENT-AR) was established as an outcome of a research project focusing on the sustainable development and transformation of cities.

The Center aims to contribute to the development of more sustainable, livable, and resilient cities that can better withstand rapid urbanization, economic fluctuations, climate change, natural disasters, and other global challenges. It strives to produce innovative solutions in collaboration with urban stakeholders, conduct scientific research through national and international partnerships, and integrate the knowledge generated into practical applications and education.

Focusing on the problems and potentials of cities shaped by the mutual interaction of nature, humans, and increasingly technology, the Center adopts the principles of participation, sustainability, and innovation. Its core principle is to act with a public interest approach. The Center, which works in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and landscape architecture, aims to enrich knowledge in these disciplines with different perspectives.

The management team and working groups of the Center consist of researchers specialized in various disciplines to develop holistic and innovative approaches to the complex structures and dynamics of cities.
