Head of the Department

The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts of the Faculty of Art and Design of İstanbul Kent University, has a curriculum based on a comprehensive educational approach both in practice and in theory. In recent years, interest in the discipline of gastronomy has been growing rapidly in our country and around the world. The fact that the consumption of food, which is the most basic physiological need, continues largely without interruption even in extraordinary situations such as the pandemic, both explains the reason for this interest and shows that the need for qualified labor force in the sector will exist in any case.

The main purpose of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts is to train individuals who know the changes in the history of gastronomy from classical to innovative movements, thus will shape the future of the sector, have a good command of world cuisines, know the physical and chemical changes that occur during cooking and management of professional kitchen applications.

Upon graduation, our students who are ready for international competition with the vision of KENT can work in senior positions in the public and private sectors thanks to the education they receive and internship opportunities provided or can become one of the leading representatives of the industry by founding their own business thanks to the entrepreneurship awareness they have gained.
