Travel Document and Residence Permit
All international students should have a valid passport that covers the entire duration of their education in order to travel to Turkey. The validity of your passport is also important for your residence permit application and other official procedures in Turkey.
Depending on your nationality, you may or may not need a visa to enter Turkey. To check whether a visa is required, please visit https://evisa.gov.tr/en/apply/.
If you need a visa, you can get information from your university's international office. If you do not need a visa, you should complete your residence permit process within 3 months from your entry date into Turkey.
We recommend reviewing the Accommodation and Health Insure sections carefully before your arrival.
Health Insurance
Please take into account the following information when obtaining your health insurance for your stay in Turkey:
- If you are coming from one of the listed contracted countries, you can benefit from the agreement that has been built between your country and Turkey’s social security bodies: Germany, Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czechia, France, Croatia, the Netherlands, Montenegro, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), North Macedonia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Romania, Serbia.
- Please don’t pursue a health insurance at home country if you cannot find a company who has a branch in Turkey and could produce a health insurance document in Turkish. Or you should be paying an additional amount for official translation of your document into Turkish. Because you will be using your health insurance document during residence permit application and the authority who deliver the residence permit application documents (Presidency of Migration Management) doesn’t accept the documents which are prepared in other languages than Turkish.
