COMPULSORY / UTL200 / INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

This course covers the concepts and scope of international distribution, logistics, and supply chain management; delivery terms and practices in international logistics; the concept of freight forwarders and their roles and applications in international logistics activities; master packing and packaging practices in international logistics; containers, trailers, and their utilization; bonded warehouses, sheds, warehouses, and their functional uses; the profession of customs brokerage and its functions within international logistics activities; insurance in international logistics, its scope and related applications; as well as inspection companies, their activities, functions, and practices.

The International Logistics Management course aims to provide graduate-level education and to develop competencies in understanding, interpreting, evaluating, analyzing, and developing solutions for international logistics processes within the scope of the topics listed above.

COMPULSORY / UTL201 / INTERNATIONAL TRADE THEORY

This course aims to enable students to learn the fundamental theories related to international trade. For this purpose, theories that explain international trade within the field of International Trade, as well as current theoretical debates, are included in the course content.

COMPULSORY / UTL202 / RESEARCH METHODS AND TECHNIQUES

This course covers research techniques in the social sciences, including hypotheses, concepts and variables, theory, methods, research design, literature review, research questions, quantitative techniques, and research report writing.

COMPULSORY / UTL203 / GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

This course examines the concept and scope of the supply chain, its characteristics, the value chain concept and value systems, the structure of the supply chain, organizational relationships within the supply chain, information systems used in supply chains, the structure of international distribution, distribution in global retailing, e-commerce and supply chains, innovation management in supply chains, procurement, transportation and logistics services, reverse logistics and sustainability in supply chains, strategy and supply chains, supply chain planning and modeling, and finally the management of global supply chains.

COMPULSORY / UTL204 / INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AND WORLD TRADE

This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the current international economic system and the mechanisms, institutions, and contradictions of world trade. Within this framework, the historical processes through which the international economic system emerged, how these processes shape the present, and which contemporary issues play a decisive and formative role in this system are examined.

The course discusses the emergence of trade from early human production activities, the historical development of primitive, simple, and modern trade forms, theories explaining international trade, the functioning of supranational institutions in the international economic arena, Turkey’s position within this system and its historical context, globalization and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, the challenges faced by the system today, and major tension lines and competitive areas in the world economy.

ELECTIVE / UTL205 / LOGISTICS OPERATIONS AND TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT

This course comprehensively examines the core components of logistics operations, transportation modes (road, rail, air, and sea), and their cost implications in order to ensure effective management of material flows and optimization of transportation processes. The course also focuses on planning, implementation, and control stages of transportation management, aiming to equip students with practical skills.

ELECTIVE / UTL206 / INTEGRATED LOGISTICS SUPPORT

This course addresses the conceptual framework and definitions related to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), its historical development and transformation, ILS process design, identification and fulfillment of system requirements, system design principles and roadmaps, sustainability of ILS systems, spare parts support issues and solutions, administrative support, maintenance processes, and supporting disciplines such as human resources, information technologies, and financial management. The course also evaluates how to conduct logistics support analysis and prepare logistics support plans.

ELECTIVE / UTL207 / GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGIES

his course focuses on enhancing the ability of modern organizations to manage the international flow of goods and services. The fundamental components of the supply chain, strategic planning, and dynamics of the global market are examined. Students explore topics such as risk management, sustainability, and technological innovations in order to understand the complexities of supply chain management. The course evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of various supply chain strategies at the global level and examines the impact of global economic conditions and trade policies on supply chain strategies. Through case studies and group projects, students strengthen their skills in developing strategies for real-world scenarios. Ultimately, this course equips participants with the competence to develop effective and competitive supply chain strategies at the global level.

ELECTIVE / UTL208 / LOGISTICS COST MANAGEMENT

This course comprehensively examines cost components, budgeting methods, and performance indicators with the aim of developing skills in analyzing and optimizing the costs of logistics processes. Students learn how to manage the costs of logistics activities such as transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and order processing. In addition, cost reduction strategies and sustainable practices are emphasized. Through case studies and simulations, students have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. Ultimately, this course equips participants with the competence to develop effective cost management strategies that provide a competitive advantage.

ELECTIVE / UTL209 / WAREHOUSING AND DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT

This course addresses fundamental topics such as warehouse design, inventory management, order processing, and distribution strategies, aiming to optimize storage and distribution processes for the effective management of material flow. Participants learn current practices and technological innovations to enhance the efficiency of warehousing systems. Additionally, the planning and management of distribution networks, which are critical for ensuring customer satisfaction, are covered. Through case studies and practical projects, students have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. ELECTIVE / UTL210 / TRANSPORTATION AND WAREHOUSING STRATEGIES

This course focuses on the effective management of transportation and warehousing methods, which are critical components of logistics processes, and on developing strategies to enhance their efficiency. It covers the advantages and disadvantages of different transportation modes (road, rail, air, sea) as well as current practices and technological innovations used in warehouse management. ELECTIVE / UTL211 / SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN AND OPTIMIZATION

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive, graduate-level understanding of supply chain management principles, strategies, and the role of technology in optimizing supply chain operations. It is designed to help students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to modern supply chain management. Within this framework, topics covered include supply chain management and planning, demand forecasting, inventory management and optimization, production planning and scheduling, advanced planning systems and technologies, as well as logistics and shipment planning processes.

ELECTIVE / UTL212 / ZERO INVENTORY AND LEAN LOGISTICS

This course examines the concepts of zero inventory and lean logistics, their integration into business processes, and their significance in logistics management. The fundamentals, requirements, opportunities, and challenges of the zero inventory approach will be explored, while the role of lean logistics in production and distribution processes will be discussed in detail. Students will learn how to apply lean production principles, minimize waste, and optimize value creation, as well as how the zero inventory strategy can enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, the course focuses on continuous improvement in supply chain processes, time management, flexibility, supplier relationships, demand forecasting, and inventory control. By the end of the course, students are expected to have the competence to effectively implement lean logistics and zero inventory principles in business operations and manage these processes efficiently.

ELECTIVE / UTL213 / LOGISTICS DATA ANALYTICS AND DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS

This course covers the use of data analysis and decision support systems to improve logistics processes, focusing on topics such as big data analytics, statistical methods, and data visualization techniques. Students will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret logistics data, enhancing their ability to make data-driven decisions. Additionally, practical knowledge will be provided on the design and implementation of decision support systems. This course provides a detailed examination of the fundamental concepts, processes, and practices related to maritime transportation and logistics. Topics include the role of maritime transport within logistics systems, container shipping, types of vessels, port operations, regulations governing maritime transport, advanced technologies used in shipping, and sustainability strategies. Additionally, the course explores the economic impacts of global maritime transport, the role of sea transport in the logistics chain, global trade dynamics, and the contributions of maritime transport to the logistics sector. This course covers the fundamental functions, management approaches, and strategies in maritime transportation and port operations. The Airport Management course covers fundamental topics such as the management of airport operations, air traffic control, passenger services, security measures, and airport infrastructure planning. Additionally, the course addresses financial management of airport enterprises, collaborations with airlines, the economic impact of airports, and their role in global aviation trade. The course aims to equip students with the strategic planning and operational skills necessary for the effective management of airport operations.

The Aviation Management course provides a comprehensive overview of all components within the aviation sector. It covers airline management, financial management of airlines, strategic planning in aviation, flight operations, aviation security, regulations, and international regulatory frameworks in the aviation industry. Additionally, the course addresses global aviation market trends, sustainability strategies of aviation companies, and technology-driven innovative solutions. Students will develop managerial skills in the aviation sector and gain the competence to analyze its dynamic environment.

ELECTIVE / UTL218 / INTERNATIONAL MARKETING STRATEGIES

The International Marketing Strategies course covers fundamental concepts related to international marketing, the international marketing mix, the international marketing environment, and the stages of international market research. It also addresses strategies for entering international markets, product, brand, pricing, and distribution in international marketing, as well as communication-related topics in international marketing. In the final part of the course, the branding efforts of Turkish companies in international markets are evaluated.

This course covers the financing of foreign trade transactions and the financial aspects of international trade. Topics include trade finance, international payment methods, foreign exchange risk management, export credits, financial risks, and insurance systems. ELECTIVE / UTL220 / TRADE AGREEMENTS AND REGIONAL ECONOMIC INTEGRATIONS

This course examines the structure of trade agreements, the formation of regional economic unions, and their impacts on the global economy. Topics include free trade agreements, customs unions, the economic effects of regional trade agreements, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and regional economic integration processes. This course focuses on the management of export and import processes and the challenges encountered in these operations. This course examines international marketing processes and strategies. Topics include the global marketing environment, marketing strategies in different cultures, international marketing research, branding, and distribution channels. Additionally, pricing strategies, advertising and promotional techniques, and the role of digital marketing in the global market will be addressed. This course explores theories and applications aimed at understanding how costs are used as a strategic management tool and how organizations achieve long-term competitive advantages. This course aims to enable students to conduct original research by identifying topics related to their field, conducting literature reviews, planning research processes, preparing reports, and presenting their work.

COMPULSORY / UTL236 / THESIS STUDY

By the end of this course, students will be able to prepare a master’s thesis by following scientific research processes. Students conduct literature reviews, develop and defend thesis proposals, collect and analyze data, interpret results, and report their research. The thesis process fosters a critical perspective on existing research paradigms and encourages the development of alternative approaches.
