Program Objective

The primary objective of the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program is to educate engineers who will enhance productivity, quality, and sustainability by ensuring the effective use of resources in production and service systems. The program aims to integrate technical knowledge with a managerial perspective by equipping students with analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and systems approach skills.

Graduates of the program will:

  • Engineering Knowledge and Application Acquire the ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to industrial engineering problems.
  • Problem Identification and Solving Gain the competence to analyze complex production and service systems, identify problems, model them, and develop solutions using appropriate methods.
  • Experiment and Data Analysis Acquire the ability to design experiments, collect, analyze, and interpret data; and transfer the results to decision support processes.
  • System Design Gain the competence to design processes, systems, and organizations under realistic constraints (economic, social, environmental, ethical, etc.).
  • Interdisciplinary Work Acquire the ability to work in teams with different disciplines, develop collaboration, and demonstrate leadership.
  • Ethics and Professional Responsibility Gain the ability to act in accordance with ethical principles in engineering practices and make decisions with a sense of social responsibility.
  • Communication Competence Develop skills in written and oral communication in Turkish and English, preparing technical reports, and making presentations.
  • Global and Local Impact Analysis Acquire the ability to evaluate the economic, environmental, sustainability, societal, and global impacts of engineering solutions.
  • Lifelong Learning Acquire the habit of following scientific and technological developments, continuous learning, and self-improvement.
  • Use of Modern Tools Gain competence in effectively using modern engineering tools, information technologies, and software in industrial engineering applications.

Consequently, our Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program aims to educate students not only with technical knowledge but also with a sense of social responsibility, ethical values, and lifelong learning skills, preparing them to be qualified engineers capable of taking on effective roles in both national and international production and service sectors.

Degree Awarded

Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded the title of "Industrial Engineer" and a Bachelor's Degree. (Degree: Bachelor's Title: Industrial Engineer). The language of instruction is Turkish.

Admission Requirements:

In accordance with the regulations set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), student admission to this program is carried out through the system administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYS). Students are placed in relevant programs by this center based on their scores from this exam, after stating their program preferences. Foreign students are admitted to this program based on internationally valid exam results such as SAT or ACT, or their secondary school graduation grades. The admission of exchange students is conducted within the framework of bilateral agreements (Erasmus or General Academic Protocol) signed between KENT and partner universities. Guest students can enroll in courses offered by this program upon approval from the relevant academic unit. Proficiency in the language of instruction is required.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The recognition of prior formal, non-formal, and informal learning is carried out within the framework of the transition, double major, minor, and credit transfer regulations determined by YÖK.

Examinations, Assessment, and Grading

Performance assessment includes midterm exams, assignments, projects, laboratory practices, and final exams. Evaluations are based on the absolute grading system in effect at our university. Letter grades and their coefficients are defined in the university's grading system catalog.

Qualification Conditions and Regulations

Students who complete the total 240 ECTS credit requirement, complete their mandatory internships, and achieve a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 gain the right to graduate.

Graduation Requirements

Completion of 240 ECTS credits, completion of mandatory internships, successful completion of the Capstone Project, and a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00 is required.

Progression to Higher Degree Programs

Graduates of the Industrial Engineering undergraduate program can apply for master's and doctoral programs provided they obtain the required scores from exams such as ALES, YDS/YÖKDİL, or international foreign language exams whose equivalence is accepted by ÖSYM (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS), meet the graduation grade point average (GPA) requirement set by universities, and succeed in the interview/scientific exam.

Program Qualification Conditions and Rules

All the work a student must do to successfully complete a course (theoretical lecture, practice, seminar, individual study, exams, assignments, etc.) is expressed in European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits.

ECTS is a student-centered credit system based on student workload. The student is obliged to take at least 30 ECTS credits per semester.

Upon graduation, the student's success status is determined by the ACADEMIC AVERAGE. Success in a course is determined by evaluating the average of the midterm exam grade and the final or make-up exam grade. To graduate, the student must have passed all courses in the curriculum with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and have a general grade point average of at least 60 out of 100.

Industrial Engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the design, planning, development, management, and improvement of systems involving human, machine, material, information, and energy elements, using knowledge of natural sciences and mathematics along with engineering applications. This discipline aims to ensure that production and service systems operate efficiently, safely, with quality, and sustainably.

ithin the scope of the program;

Production: Ability to comprehend the behavior and properties of materials, the effects of production processes, process and product engineering, and determine the necessary tools, equipment, and environmental conditions for production.

Competitiveness: Ability to provide competitive advantage through production planning, strategy, and control.

Production Systems Design: Ability to analyze, synthesize, and control systems using advanced mathematics, statistics, simulation, and information technologies.

Processing: Ability to apply traditional and computer-controlled processing methods used in the production of all metallic and non-metallic products.

Emphasis is placed on these topics. The program aims to equip students with competence in theoretical knowledge, analytical thinking, problem-solving, technology use, and professional ethics.
