​Anesthesia, which is an indispensable element of Surgical Sciences, means "numbness, loss of sensation". An Anesthesia Technician is a healthcare professional who applies medical methods related to anaesthetizing patients in surgery according to the doctors' instructions and assists the doctor in anesthesia applications. Operations under anesthesia are painless for the patients and they do not have any memory regarding the procedures. However, to perform any surgery safely, the elimination of the sensation is necessary, but not enough alone. In addition, during surgery, vital signs such as “breathing and circulation" should be kept under control. In the anesthesia program, students learn about patients, diseases, drugs to be used, practices and conditions. Students make preoperative preparations, work in cooperation with anesthesiologist during surgery, carry out patient follow-up and patient control after surgery.

It is aimed that technicians, who will be trained in this field, gain knowledge and skills in the field of anesthesiology at a basic level at the Anesthesia Application Laboratory of Istanbul Kent University. Our students develop their medical skills by practicing personally on simulation models in laboratories. In anesthesia laboratories, patient monitoring, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubation, epidural and spinal anesthesia, general anesthesia, combined anesthesia, parenteral anesthesia intervention, use of anesthesia machine, drugs, the preparation and presentation of material, patient transport, postoperative care practices are taught to our students.
