The Dental Student Research Group (DSRG), is a unit of Istanbul Kent University Faculty of Dentistry with an objective to support and promote research-related activities in dental school. It was established in the 2019-2020 academic year. The studies, which were suspended due to the Covid 19 pandemic, started to be continued in 2022-2023, and the "1st Student Research Congress of the Faculty of Dentistry" was held on May 5, 2023.

All of the activities are arranged by the professor coordinating the club.Students elect their president, who is responsible for organising a schedule of meetings at which the steps of each group’s research process are discussed and checked.

Students complete freedom to select the branch of dentistry, their subject, their research, partners and the supervisory professor for their study. At the beginning of the school year,students apply to the club voluntarily and they do not get any grades for their project so making a scientific project is totally a volunteer study. Faculty admission grades and cumulative grade point average of the students are not considered for the club membership and research experience is not necessary to be a member - just interest is enough!

 Every year, a scientific meeting is arranged by a student committee made up of club members at which students present their research in 10- to 15-min long speeches. In addition, a booklet outlining all the research abstracts in Turkish and English is distributed to participants. 

Students develop better research planning and independent inquiry skills after completing a research project, and also that students who have conducted research in this group have a better basis for postgraduate academic research as well as improve public speaking skills in many cases. Working on problems using the evidence-based dentistry approach also develope students’ analytical skills.
